Meet the adoptable dogs!
Here at Kelsey’s Canine Academy, we save dogs in need, train them up to the potential We know they have, and give them another chance to find a fur-ever home!
Please feel free to tell everyone about these dogs! Most the dog we take in are miss understood in the shelter environment. They are some of the most amazing dogs I have the pleasure of working with!
Every dog that gets adopted out is another opportunity for me to help more dogs in the shelter!
All my adoptable dogs will go to a home with a general vet visit, Spayed/neutered, and all shots up to date.
DRAX
Drax is estimated to be 3 years old and was found roaming the streets of San Diego with another dog.
When going through the kennels, I came upon Drax, and he let me know he was very unhappy about me being next to his kennel. He charged the gate and was loud about the protest for me to leave. That was it. No one was going to ask to see this “scary” shepherd.
I asked the shelter for a meet and greet; they pulled him and couldn’t give me too much information about him because his background was unknown. They couldn’t even tell me if he was dog friendly. In the play yard, I saw a different dog. He was happy to see people and even took treats from my 2-year-old gently.
I left with Drax knowing that he puts on a big front because he is nervous but deep down, he is such a lover and would love a family to call his own.
Drax has showed great leaps and bounds since being with me. We would love to see him in an active home. One that is a little dog savvy or willing to put in the work to keep up on his training. He comes with all his basic obedience training, Crate trained, potty trained, and walks well on leash. He is dog friendly! He gets along with big, medium, and small dogs! He is also very neutral around farm animals as well! He is labeled as kid friendly and has been gentle with both my 3-year-old and my 7-year-old.
Drax loves people but his ball is life! He would chase his ball to the end of time. I think that he could do a number of sports but would be great being just a family dog as well. If you are interested in meeting Drax, please reach out to set up a meeting! He will show you how amazing he really is!
LOKI
ADOPTED
Loki is a 1 1/2-year-old Belgian Malinois. He was found as a stray in El Cajon. He was originally adopted out but was returned within an hour of being adopted! The family had said he was aggressive and tried to attack the husband and their other dog.
Cue me…
My initial interaction with Loki was that he lacked a ton of confidence! He expressed this by trying to be the “big” dog on the block. We saw right through him!
Loki is actually one of the sweetest dogs that you’ll ever meet! He is all for the attention and a Velcro dog to the max! He lives for belly rubs and the ball!
He is dog selective and takes better to female dogs than males, but with the right guidance he has been great with the male dogs he has interacted with so far.
He is very pray driven so no cats or small dogs! He had been very good with my kids but kids that are dogs savvy and can respect boundaries are a must with him!
He would be amazing at agility and Fast CAT, or Rally. He doesn’t handle pressure well, so a soft handler is needed.
Loki comes with all his basic obedience training and some advance training, crate training, e collar training, potty training.
